Welcome To GenealogyRoad!

My father once told me of a dream he had. The dream was very simple. He was young boy again carelessly walking down the old dirt driveway that led to his childhood home-picket fence on one side, tall corn rows, as far as the eye could see, gracefully blowing in the wind on the other. In a peaceful tone and a gentle smile, he looked to me and said, "I was going home".

To anyone who has a love of genealogy, whether you are a family historian or a certified genealogist, you understand that its not always about the records or the data (although that is always welcomed) but its also about all the little things that complete the family story for the generations to come. That is why I started GenealogyRoad. I hope to help people expand their minds to different less obvious areas where records could still exist or family stories that could be waiting to be told. I hope this blog helps you and inspires you on your family journey for many years to come. I hope you enjoy your stay and please be sure to check back often for regular blog updates. And once again, Welcome to GenealogyRoad!

NEW Records Online!

All,
It has been brought to my attention that the free LDS website has recently added new records-300 million!!

Go To:
http://search.labs.familysearch.org

Click on the "Search or Brows Our Records Collections"
Click on the "Browse Collection"
Find the location of interest and click!
Type in the individual you are searching and see if the records are there!
(Please note: the ones with the red asterisk are the new and updated records.)

I searched for two of my family members that previously had not been online and found them. However, they were simply the index--not the actual records--however, they were there!

If you would like to see the LDS record list please go to:
http://fsbeta.familysearch.org/s/collection/list

Happy Searching!
